Pediatric cardiac arrests are rare but do occasionally happen in the prehospital setting. These patients can be difficult to manage along with stressful circumstances on scene, causing some EMS providers to struggle with these calls. This activity outlines the evaluation and management of pediatric cardiac arrests and highlights areas of improvement of managing these critical patients. This course will review current PALS guidelines, best practices, and case reviews to ensure the learner has a robust learning experience.

Capnography interpretation is a tool that EMS relies on heavily in the field. In this course, we will be reviewing basic capnography interpretation and using that to build into the advanced skills. Dr. Eric Hill will review best practices in capnography, techniques that has worked over the years for him as an emergency physician, and troubleshooting steps if your capnography is not working. Lastly, we will go over case reviews to help solidify the newly learned information.

Prehospital airway management is an important skillset for the EMS provider. Practicing these skills both at a BLS and ALS level is critically important when running a variety of calls. This activity outlines the best practices in airway management in the prehospital setting and focuses on how to improve techniques in doing them. This activity also discusses intubation success and failures and how the ALS provider can improve for future intubation attempts.

Running and managing a cardiac arrest call takes organization and precative for the prehospital provider to be proficient at them. Dr. Dhaliwal, an emergency medicine physician, discusses the ACLS standards of prehospital cardiac arrests.  We review new methods of ventilation, best practices, and tips on scene management. Lastly, Dr. Dhaliwal will do case reviews to discuss the material further.
