Activity Description:
Medical professionals including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, therapists and other members of the healthcare team require ongoing education pertaining to the recognition, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with neurologic disorders. Education related to advancements in research, recognition, diagnostic testing, and medical and surgical management will be provided. Additionally, practical guidance related to diagnostic and treatment approaches will be shared in order to facilitate high quality, evidence-based care to this patient population. Education will be provided via lectures, case-reviews, and interactive question and answer session.
Target Audience:
Neurologists, emergency department physicians, neurovascular physicians, hospitalists, neuro-intensivists, neurology residents and fellows, medical students, advanced practice nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists, nurses and emergency medical service providers
Learning Objectives:
- Learners will be able to rapidly assess patients with ICH and discuss general management for these patients.
- Learners will understand how to initiate appropriate blood pressure management in patients with acute ICH.
- The identification and utilization of specific reversal agents will be reviewed.
- The coordination of multidisciplinary care for possible early evacuation of hematoma will be outlined.
- Long-term blood pressure control strategies to prevent recurrence as well as early mobilization/rehabilitation concepts will be shared.
- An awareness of therapies which show no benefit or could cause harm will be introduced.
