Activity Description:

A discussion of newer procedures offered by interventional radiology which are targeted to help patients with the following conditions:
• Prostate artery embolization for patients with BPH and moderate-severe lower urinary tract symptoms
• Hemorrhoid artery embolization for patients with grade 2 or 3 hemorrhoids
• Genicular artery embolization for patients with symptomatic knee arthritis
This activity will provide participants with an in-depth understanding of the role of these procedures in the management of these conditions. Emphasis will be placed how each can be used as an adjunct or alternative to other management options. Additionally, attendees will critically review the risks, benefits, and indications of the above procedures, helping clinicians optimize care for their patients. By integrating updated clinical evidence, this activity aims to improve therapeutic decision-making and patient outcomes in care management.

Target Audience: 

This course is designed for hospitalists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, advance practice nurses, registered nurses, allied health professionals, physicians and residents.

Learning Objectives:

• Identifying potential patients for referral.
• Summarize the nature of the procedure, expected recovery time, and outcomes of each procedure.
• Determine where these procedures fit within the current management algorithms for these conditions.
• Review risks and potential complications of these procedures.
