Pediatric Dental Emergencies

This activity is designed to give the learner a better understanding of the causes and contributing factors of dental medical emergencies for the pediatric patient. This course will discuss the diagnosis, prevention, and management of common medical emergencies that might occur in pediatric dental offices.

This course is designed for Emergency Medicine, Family Practice, General Practice, Nursing, Pediatrics, Physician Assistant

Learning Objectives

  • Compare and contrast common medical emergencies based on the signs and symptoms demonstrated by a patient.
  • Describe a rational approach to the management of medical emergencies in general as well as the specific protocols for managing each medical emergency discussed.
  • Identify modifiable risk factors for medical emergencies and understand methods to prevent their occurrence in the dental environment.
