Activity Description:

The purpose of the PIPS Morbidity and Mortality Conference is to provide a safe venue for pediatric staff to identify areas of improvement, and promote professionalism, ethical integrity and transparency in assessing and improving patient care. This activity will create scholarly forum that encourages discussion between team members to facilitate process improvement and improve patient outcomes. The Morbidity and Mortality Conference presents cases in which a reportable event occurred, a conflict of importance occurred, and/or an event in which a mortality occurred. The discussion and analysis of the event(s) at the M&M conference contribute to a broader workflow, to establish and propose more effective guidelines in patient care.

Target Audience: 

This course is designed for Hospitalists, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Advance Practice Nurses, Registered Nurses, Allied Health Professionals, Physicians and Residents.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
1. Review case presentations and relate clinical guidelines/concepts to be used to improve patient outcomes
2. Identify areas/processes for improvement 
3. Create scholarly forum that encouraged processional discourse from multiple perspectives
