Faculty Biography
Haroon-Ur (Harry) Rashid, M.D., Ph.D., F.A.C.C., F.S.C.A.I., is a Clinical Assistant professor of Cardiology (Internal Medicine) at Baylor College of Medicine, and Staff Cardiologist at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic and Texas Heart Institute, St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital, in Houston, Texas. He received his Doctor of Medicine from RMC, Punjab University, Pakistan. He completed his Ph.D in Molecular Biology at University of South Alabama, Mobile, Alabama. His Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine were completed at University of South Alabama Medical center. He then completed a Cardiology Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas.
Dr. Rashid is a Science and Technology Scholar and has received McGhee Memorial Award for the best scientific publication. He is a Fellow of American College of Cardiology, and Society of Cardiac Angiography and Interventions. He is also a member of several societies including American College of Cardiology, American College of Physicians. His primary research focus is in lipid metabolism in humans and the diagnosis and treatment of dyslipidemia and atherogenesis in Coronary Artery Disease, Diabetes Mellitus, Obesity and Metabolic Syndrome in a large Kelsey-Seybold Cardiology Lipid Clinic. He is a Clinical Investigator and has participated in several large randomized controlled Trials in Hypertension, Heart Failure, Hyperlipidemia, and Acute Coronary Syndrome, as a principal investigator and is recognized as an expert in the area of his specialty. He has published several scientific papers in peer reviewed medical journals and has delivered many presentations.
