Dr. Eric Liu is a specialist in Neuroendocrine Tumors and related endocrine malignancies.  Originally from Maryland, he attended Harvard University and Columbia University, College of Physicians & Surgeons.  He did his general surgery training at New-York Presbyterian Hospital and a research fellowship at the National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive, Kidney Diseases, National Institutes of Health.  He specialized in endocrinology, type 1 diabetes, and cell transplant.  He then did a specialized fellowship at the Endocrine Oncology Unit at Uppsala University, Uppsala, Sweden, studying Neuroendocrine Tumors under Dr. Kjell Oberg. 

He was assistant professor of surgery and radiology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN and developed a multidisciplinary Neuroendocrine Clinic.  His team was the first to perform the 68-Gallium-DOTATATE PET/CT in the United States for Neuroendocrine patients.  He is widely published and frequently lectures on the topic of Neuroendocrine Tumors.  He is currently one of the Co-Founders/Directors of the Neuroendocrine Institute in Denver, Colorado, a multidisciplinary clinic dedicated to the treatment of patients with Neuroendocrine Tumors.  He is also the chief medical advisor and co-founder of the Healing NET Foundation.
