I completed my bachelor of music degree in violin performance at the Eastman school of music in 1987. I then worked the following 6 years at Medicine Hat College and mount Royal College. During the final 2 years of that teaching I completed my premed courses at the University of Calgary. I then went on to the University of Alberta and completed my MD degree in 1997. I completed my residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at the University of Alberta, completing that residency in 2002. I then moved to Nashville Tennessee and completed my fellowship and head neck surgical oncology and microvascular reconstruction in 2003. I was an assistant professor at West Virginia University from 2003 until 2009. I was in his assistant then associate Professor at the University of Rochester between 2009 and 2019. During the final 3 years at the University of Rochester I was director of the head and neck oncology division. Since then I have been at Swedish Medical Center. I am part of the head and neck surgical specialty group providing head and neck surgical oncology care and microvascular reconstruction to the greater Denver area.
