Ali Hashmi, MD

Dr. Ali Hashmi completed medical school from Aga Khan University. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency and Gastroenterology Fellowship from Baylor College of Medicine. After finishing fellowship, he joined the faculty of University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston as an Assistant Professor. After practicing at UTMB for two years, Dr. Hashmi moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where he worked at the Mass General and Brigham community physician organization for four years. In 2021, Dr. Hashmi moved back to Houston, Texas, to join the Gastroenterology Diagnostic Center.
During his faculty tenure at UTMB, Dr. Hashmi actively participated in clinical research and authored numerous manuscripts. He was also a pioneer of the GI Surgical Conference, a multi-disciplinary conference focused on complicated patients and procedures.
Dr. Hashmi is a Board Certified Gastroenterologist and is an active member of the following GI societies:
- American Gastroenterological Association
- American College of Gastroenterology
- American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy
- Texas Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy
- Texas Medical Association
In his free time, Dr. Hashmi likes to play squash and explore new biking trails with his two daughters.
