Kim DiMaria, DNP, CPNP-AC

Kim DiMaria, DNP, MSN, CPNP-AC, is the Administrative Director of the Rocky Mountain Children's Heart Center and pediatric cardiac critical care nurse practitioner with expertise in quality improvement, clinical outcomes, and resuscitation science. She most recently served as the Director of Quality & Safety and a Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Nurse Practitioner at the Congenital Heart Center at the University of Michigan’s C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, where she led system‑level initiatives to improve safety, reduce preventable harm, and strengthen multidisciplinary performance.
Dr. DiMaria completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Executive Leadership at Johns Hopkins University and holds a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania, where she trained in the Pediatric Critical Care Nurse Practitioner Program.
Her academic career includes faculty appointments at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, progressing from Instructor to Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Cardiology. She has served in multiple institutional leadership roles, including Director of the Heart Institute Data Steering Team, Co‑Chair of the Heart Institute Quality and Practice Council, and Co‑Chair of the Congenital Heart Center CPR and Quality Committees.
Dr. DiMaria’s scholarly work focuses on resuscitation improvement, neurodevelopmental care for children with congenital heart disease, escalation‑of‑care systems, and high‑reliability clinical operations. Her contributions include peer‑reviewed publications, national presentations, and leadership of multi‑institutional quality collaboratives. She has authored book chapters in pediatric acute care, served as a reviewer for Critical Care Nurse, and presented research at national forums including AACN NTI, PCICS, PC4/PAC3, and the Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Outcome Collaborative.
She is an active member of national organizations, including the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society, American Heart Association, and Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Outcomes Collaborative, where she contributes to guideline development, program planning, and national quality improvement strategy.
