Dr. Matthew Mian is a neurosurgeon in Denver, Colorado, with CarePoint Neurosurgery and Spine, and serves as the director of functional neurosurgery at Swedish Medical Center.

Dr. Mian grew up in Michigan and North Carolina. He studied at Duke University and then earned his MD with honors from a joint program between Harvard Medical School and MIT. While in Boston, he developed an interest in cognitive neuroscience, and his research was published in leading journals including Nature and The Journal of Neuroscience.

He completed my residency in neurosurgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and then a fellowship in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery at Emory University.

He has practiced in Colorado since 2019 and takes an active role in patient advocacy as a member of the Parkinson’s Association of the Rockies Medical Advisory Board, the Epilepsy Foundation of Colorado’s Professional Advisory Board, and the Facial Pain Association.

In his free time, he enjoys scuba diving, cycling, skiing (badly), photography, and hiking.

I see my role in the office as providing an easy-to-understand, balanced, and expert opinion and then letting you and your loved ones make a decision - often at home, after the visit. In the operating room, my commitment is to provide you safe, meticulous, and technically excellent surgical care.”
