Activity Description:

This learning activity delves into the evolving role of genetics in adult medicine, tracing its history, current practices, and future directions. Participants will learn to identify Red Flags and pitfalls in diagnosing genetic disorders, including recognizing unexplained physical findings and multifocal symptoms. The course also emphasizes the principles of genetic counseling and testing, discussing both symptomatic and asymptomatic testing, as well as the ethical considerations of patient autonomy. Additionally, it aims to enhance access to reliable clinical resources like HPO, OMIM, and GeneReviews, supporting both patients and clinicians in navigating a genetic diagnosis.
