Zeke Walton, MD is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic oncologist with special interest in hip resurfacing surgery, primary and revision robotic joint replacement surgery and a full spectrum of orthopedic oncology care. With more than a decade of clinical experience, Dr. Walton has built a reputation among patients and peers alike as an excellent communicator and a meticulous, forward-thinking surgeon.
Dr. Walton, a native of Greenville, SC, earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), where he also completed a residency in orthopedics. He further specialized with a fellowship in orthopedic oncology and total joint reconstruction at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. In South Carolina, Dr. Walton dedicated 10 years to training residents and functioning as part of a multidisciplinary cancer team, ultimately leading the Sarcoma Disease Focused Group at MUSC, splitting time caring for oncologic patients and the other half on primary and complex joint replacements.
Dr. Walton’s expertise in orthopedic oncology enables him to provide advanced, limb-preserving treatments for bony metastatic disease, as well as all types of soft tissue and bone sarcomas. During his time in South Carolina, he trained with Dr. Tom Gross M.D., a pioneer in hip resurfacing surgery, gaining unparalleled familiarity with this advanced procedure. Hip resurfacing, an alternative to hip replacement, offers high functioning, lasting outcomes and is particularly well-suited for younger, higher demand, active patients.
Dr. Walton also became a renowned and highly sought-after robotic joint replacement surgeon, amassing extensive experience in advanced hip and knee surgeries. He is honored to have completed more than 6,000 joint replacements in his career, 2000 of which have been robotic replacements and revisions. Robotic joint replacement surgery typically leads to fewer complications, reduced blood loss, less pain, shorter hospital stays, faster recoveries, and minimal scarring compared to traditional surgery.
Now providing experienced orthopedic oncologic care, hip resurfacing surgery, robotic joint replacement surgery and revision joint replacement in metro Denver, Dr. Walton treats each patient as an individual, providing options and information that allow the patient to make an informed decision for care. With a goal to help each patient regain function and freedom, Dr. Walton is committed to getting his patients back to what they love to do as fully as possible.
