Michael Reitz, D.O., has been the Division Chief Medical Officer for HCA Continental Division since May 2023. Before joining the Division, Dr. Reitz was the CMO at HCA Florida Kendall Hospital from 2021-2023.  Prior to 2021, Dr. Reitz was the Chief Medical Officer at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center and Clinical Chairman of Hospital Medicine at Banner Health overseeing practices in Colorado and Arizona.

Dr. Reitz graduated from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1996 and finished his internal medicine residency there in 1999. He then became one of the earliest hospitalists starting his practice in the Phoenix metropolitan area with a large multistate company and then his own private practice.

Most of Dr. Reitz’s clinical practice was in Banner Desert Medical Center, which has one of the busiest emergency rooms in the nation. He served on the Medical Executive Committee in various leadership roles for over ten years. In 2005 Dr. Reitz formed his own private practice hospitalist group with five partners, eventually becoming a dominant force in hospital medicine in the East Valley of Phoenix. Dr. Reitz then entered into his administrative roles starting in 2014 and has steadily helped to improve the quality of care at multiple hospitals.
