David Dean
Dr. David Dean is a cardiac surgeon who is board certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He did his undergraduate education at Colgate University (84), and Medical School at UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (92). He did his General Surgery residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (92-99) and his Cardiac Training at The University of North Carolina (99-02). He was a research Scientist for two years at Columbia University in the Laboratory of Henry Spotnitz, MD (94-96). He is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation.
Throughout his career, Dr. Dean has been active in graduate medical education and research. He was an assistant professor of surgery at Drexel University College of Medicine, University of Missouri – Columbia and a clinical instructor of Surgery at Dartmouth Medical School. He also served as director of cardiovascular surgical research at Allegheny General Hospital, a regional medical campus for Drexel University College of Medicine.
Dr Dean's interest include acquired adult cardiac conditions (Coronary bypass, Aneurysms of the heart and blood vessels, Valvular disease, Atrial Fibrillation, Pericardial Disease, Pulmonary Embolus) , adult congenital structural disease (ASD, VSD, Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return, Tetralogy of Fallot, Fontan circulation), Heart Failure (VADs, Barrow Stimulators, LV epicardial Leads) and management of Shock (VADs and ECMO).
