Dr. Kassai is a general and trauma surgeon. She attended Medical School at the Technion in Israel and subsequently returned to Denver for her surgical training. She completed her internship and residency in General Surgery at the University of Colorado, where she was elected president of the CU Housestaff Association by her peers. She completed a Research Fellowship in Trauma Surgery during her training.

Dr. Kassai serves as the Chair of the Department of Surgery at the Medical Center of Aurora. She serves additional roles as the Medical Director of Trauma Services Surgical Director of the Intensive Care Unit, and Medical Director of the outpatient .Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center.  She actively participates in Trauma and Injury Prevention programs throughout the state. She is certified in Robotic Surgery. Her interests include acute care surgery in the aging/geriatric population, traumatic brain injuries, trauma injury prevention strategies, surgical informatics, complex wound care, and health care policy.
