Parker Hu, MD, FACS, has served as the Associate Trauma Medical Director and Program Director of the General Surgery Residency Program at Chippenham Hospital since 2023. He previously served as an Associate Professor and Associate Trauma Medical Director in the Division of Acute Care Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Hu went to medical school and completed general surgery residency at the University of Missouri followed by fellowship in Surgical Critical Care at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He maintains dual board certification in both general surgery and surgical critical care through the American Board of Surgery.  On the national level, he is an active Fellow in the American College of Surgeons and the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma.

Dr. Hu has maintained a busy clinical practice as an acute care surgeon while pursuing his interests in quality improvement and research on emergent trauma laparotomy and on the use of whole blood in trauma resuscitation. His work has been presented both nationally and internationally and resulted in over 30 publications and hundreds of citations.
