Rachel Norton, BSN, RN, CCRN, TCRN is a dedicated and experienced nurse with a passion for trauma, critical care and advancing trauma nursing practices. Currently serving as a Trauma Nurse Lead at Chippenham Hospital in Richmond, Virginia, Rachel has fifteen years of experience in Trauma, specializing in the care of critically injured patients.
Before transitioning to civilian trauma care, Rachel served as an Army Nurse from 2010-2017 and deployed to Afghanistan with a Forward Surgical Team, providing life-saving medical care in austere and high-intensity environments. This experience honed her ability to perform under pressure, adapt to rapidly changing situations, and lead multidisciplinary teams in delivering high-quality patient care, earning her a Bronze Star while deployed.
In her current role as Trauma Nurse Lead in the Trauma Department, Rachel plays a pivotal role in trauma program development, hospital staff education, and quality improvement initiatives. Rachel's expertise in trauma resuscitation, critical care management, and patient advocacy ensures that the highest standards of care are met for patients experiencing life-threatening injuries. Passionate about mentorship and professional development, Rachel actively engages in training and guiding fellow nurses, fostering a culture of excellence in trauma care as the Trauma Crash Course Instructor at Chippenham Hospital.
