Rod McKinlay, MD, FACS, FASMBS
Dr. Rodrick McKinlay is a board certified general surgeon and fellow of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). He serves as the Medical Director for Bariatric Services as St. Mark's Hospital and is on an advisory board for bariatric surgery for the Hospital Corporation of America (HCA). He graduated from the University of Utah Medical School in 1997, completed general surgery residency at the University of Arizona in 2002, and did a two-part laparoscopic (or minimally invasive) surgery fellowship at the University of Kentucky (2003) and the University of Maryland (2004). His practice has focused on bariatric surgery and advanced gastrointestinal surgery with Rocky Mountain Associated Physicians for the last 21 years. He has privileges at St. Mark's Hospital in addition to LDS Hospital and Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City. Dr. McKinlay has published or contributed to numerous articles on minimally invasive and bariatric surgery, including several landmark studies analyzing the long-term effects of bariatric surgery including mortality and metabolic benefits. He lives in Holladay, Utah with his wife and five children.
