Nicholas Paulk, MD, FACS, ABOM

Nick, a Utah native, ventured to Portland, OR, to complete medical school at OHSU before heading to Denver for his surgery residency at Exempla St. Joseph’s Hospital. He later returned to Salt Lake City, where he spent five years as a general surgeon at LDS Hospital. Seeking to specialize further, he transitioned to Rocky Mountain Associated Physicians, focusing on bariatric and advanced laparoscopic/robotic surgery. For the past nine years, he has dedicated his practice to helping patients achieve long-term weight loss success. More recently, he expanded his expertise to include medical weight management and earned board certification from the American Board of Obesity Medicine.
Nick is passionate about working in obesity medicine, seeing it as one of the most impactful ways to enhance both quality of life and longevity. His favorite feedback from patients? “I feel great—wish I had done this sooner.”
Outside of medicine, Nick is an avid adventurer. Whether canyoneering, mountain biking, skiing, or boating, he thrives on getting outside—often to the point of being borderline lost. He shares his love for the outdoors with his three rad kids and his incredible wife, who somehow allows him to convince her to join the chaos.
