Katja Kiseljak-Vassiliades, Associate Professor

Dr Katja Kiseljak-Vassiliades is an Associate Professor in the division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes at University of Colorado School of Medicine, Aurora CO. Dr. Kiseljak-Vassiliades received her medical degree from Midwestern University in Glendale AZ in 2005, and completed her internship and residency at John Hopkins University/Sinai hospital Internal Medicine program where she also served as a Chief resident. During her early residency training, Dr. Kiseljak-Vassiliades pursued translational research in thyroid cancer. She then relocated to Colorado where she completed her endocrine fellowship at University of Colorado where she remains as a faculty.
Dr. Kiseljak-Vassiliades’ research interests are in endocrine neoplasia. She led a project to understand the differences in growth hormone pituitary tumors, specifically in their aggressiveness, recurrence rates and variable response to medical therapies. Dr Kiseljak-Vassiliades has been a co-investigator on several clinical trials in pituitary disease, including acromegaly, Cushing’s disease and growth hormone deficiency. Recently, Dr. Kiseljak-Vassiliades research interest has been in adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) where she is spearheading the effort to create novel human ACC research model as well as using cutting edge bioinformatic approaches to identify new therapeutic targets for this devastating disease. Dr. Kiseljak-Vassiliades’ contribution to the field of ACC includes establishing several new preclinical human models in adrenocortical carcinoma, as well as development of vivo humanized mouse modes with first report of immunotherapy study in adrenocortical carcinoma in vivo.
