Shannon Talbot, MD
Shannon Talbot is a board-certified internal medicine physician and board-eligible cardiovascular medicine physician.
She grew up in Washington and California as a child, loving the outdoors and loving science. She went to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) for her undergraduate training where she majored in physiology (and minored in classical civilizations as she was interested in ancient Greek and Roman civilizations). She then went on to work for UCLA in their hematology-oncology, infectious disease and liver transplant departments as a research coordinator, learning the love of clinical research. During her time at UCLA, she realized that she was intrigued by not only the science of the human body but also the incredible stories of her patients. It was during this time that she knew that she wanted to pursue medicine.
She attended Tufts University School of Medicine for further medical training in Boston, Massachusetts. Then she returned to the West completing her internal medicine residency, chief residency and cardiology fellowship at the University of Utah.
In the realm of cardiovascular medicine, her emphasis is general cardiology. She focuses on holistic, patient-centered care in the treatment and management of coronary disease, valvular disease and heart failure. She enjoys chronic cardiovascular disease management, lifestyle counseling and patient education which she incorporates into her daily practice.
