“Cancer is messy and scary. You throw everything at it, but don't forget to throw love at it. It turns out that might be the best weapon of all.”

| Finding a romantic partner is stressful enough-- add a cancer diagnosis and treatment into the mix, and even the most confident of us can feel tested. Below are a few tips we have compiled about dating during your cancer journey.
Decide who to tell, and when It's up to you to decide who you want to tell about your diagnosis or treatment. You don't have to tell everyone you date, but it's important to tell those who you might be developing serious, lasting relationships with. Deciding when to tell someone does not have a one-size-fits-all answer, but consider: following your intuition, being honest about your feelings; and being prepared to answer questions from your love interest.
Think positively about yourself Focus on things that you like about yourself. No matter where you are on your cancer journey, cancer doesn't define you. Make a list of qualities you bring to a partner.
Talk with other cancer survivors The best advice often comes from others who have lived through it. Look into virtual and in-person support groups to meet others who have lived similar life experiences.
Don't forget your worth You may not find Mr. or Ms. Right the first time you venture on a date, but hold out for someone who sees your strength, resilience and growth. In the meantime, surround yourself with family and friends who can support and love you.
Check out a few resources, listed below, to help you navigate your journey. |

Cancer and Your HeartCancer survival rates are improving each year. Now, more than 15 million people with a history of cancer are alive today. This is wonderful news, but it also creates new considerations for people who are surviving cancer. Cancer treatment, while lifesaving, can be damaging to other parts of the body, especially the heart. Additionally, many who are going through or have gone through cancer treatment have several other conditions placing stress on the heart.
HealthONE's Denver Heart provides cardiovascular support for oncology patients before, during and after treatment. Services include any combination of the following: - Risk factor assessment
- Pre-existing cardiovascular condition treatment/management
- Regular monitoring during treatment
- Any heart care needs that arise during treatment
- Follow up for high-risk patients
- Treatment for cancer survivors with cardiac damage
- Advanced cardiovascular imaging
