Jason Fraser, MD, FACS, FAAP

Jason D. Fraser, MD, is a pediatric surgeon and interim surgeon-in-chief and division chief of Pediatric Surgery at Phoenix Children's. Dr. Fraser is skilled in a wide range of general surgery procedures and has a clinical interest in bariatric surgery, minimally invasive surgery, chest wall deformities and endocrine surgery, as well as medical education and research to improve clinical outcomes.
After graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from Saint John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota, Dr. Fraser earned his medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. He completed his surgical residency at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona, and fellowships in pediatric surgery and surgical research at Children's Mercy in Kansas City, Missouri.
Dr. Fraser is board certified in general surgery and pediatric surgery by the American Board of Surgery, and he is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Fraser also is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the Society of University Surgeons, the American Pediatric Surgical Association, the Association for Academic Surgery and the International Pediatric Endosurgery Group.
Dedicated to improving clinical outcomes and advancing the field of pediatric surgery, Dr. Fraser has published more than 125 articles in peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), the Journal of Surgical Research, The American Surgeon, Nature Metabolism, and Injury Epidemiology. He is a frequent invited speaker at national and international medical conferences and meetings and has authored several chapters for medical textbooks. Dr. Fraser also holds many editorial board and scientific review positions with peer-reviewed journals.
Outside the operating room, Dr. Fraser enjoys spending time with his wife and four children.
