Shawn D. St Peter, M.D., has been on staff in the Department of Surgery at Children’s Mercy Hospital since 2006. He is currently the Surgeon-in-Chief and Senior Vice President at Children's Mercy Kansas City, where he is also the Director of the Center for Prospective Trials. He holds the Katherine Berry Richardson Endowed Chair of Surgery.

Dr. St. Peter received his undergraduate degree from the University of Idaho, and his medical degree from the University of Washington. He completed surgical residency at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale with a year of research in Oxford, England. He finished his training with a fellowship in Pediatric Surgery at Children's Mercy Kansas City.

Dr. St. Peter has coauthored over 450 original publications, in addition to editing 3 books and 30 chapters. He has been an invited lecturer in over 70 venues. He is the recipient of several honors and awards, the including the Golden Apple Mercy Mentor Award, which he has been awarded 6 times.
