Dr. Carolina Millán is Chief of Pediatric Surgery and Chief of Surgical Services at Fundación Hospitalaria Children’s Hospital in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is a pediatric surgeon with extensive expertise in minimally invasive surgery, surgical innovation, simulation-based education, and pediatric surgical leadership. She was among the pioneers in the use of magnetic devices in pediatric surgery and became the first female surgeon specialized in transumbilical pediatric surgery using magnetic-assisted techniques. Since 2013, Dr. Millán has led initiatives in surgical simulation and innovation, developing training programs and simulation models for pediatric surgeons. She has held numerous leadership positions within national and international surgical societies, including serving on the Executive Committee of the International Pediatric Endosurgery Group (IPEG) and as Scientific Secretary of the Argentine Association of Pediatric Surgery (ACACIP). She currently serves as President-Elect of IPEG and is actively involved in advancing minimally invasive surgery, robotics, education, and global collaboration in pediatric surgery. Dr. Millán has presented more than 90 scientific papers at national and international meetings, authored peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, received multiple international awards for scientific contributions, and lectured extensively worldwide on minimally invasive surgery, simulation, innovation, and surgical education.
