Dr Bailez is the Past Head of the Surgical Department and actual Consultant for Surgical Simulation of Garrahan´s Children´s Hospital (University of Buenos Aires Argentina). She also served as an Assistant Professor in the division of Pediatric Surgery at the same hospital starting in 1988. She is the actual Chief of Pediatric Surgery of “Sanatorio Guemes “ in Buenos Aires .

She was the Director of the Pediatric Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) Training Courses organized by the School of Medicine of the Northeast National University in Argentina  and Associate Director of the Pediatric Courses in IRCAD Brazil. She has started an MIS simulation center in her department and is the director of the basic, advanced and neonatal courses done every year .

Dr. Bailez received her medical degree at the University of Buenos Aires. She completed her fellowship in Pediatric Surgery at The Gutierrez Children’s Hospital of Buenos Aires. She spent a year as a research fellow at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.

Dr. Bailez is Past president of IPEG ( International Pediatric Endosurgery Group)(2016) ; the Argentinean Association of Pediatric Surgery (2017) , CIPESUR( Pediatric Surgery of the South Cone of America )  (2019)  and was the program chair of 2010 IPEG meeting in Hawaii and co chair in 2011 IPEG meeting in Prague. She was the vice-president of the International Society of Intersex (ISHID).  She serves on the editorial board of 3 major surgical journals and is the author of 300 abstracts / publications and 12 book chapters. She has made more than 400 presentations, conferences and live surgery demonstrations around the world on pediatric surgical topics and was the winner of the Websurg Award in 2007. She was invited to be the Duhamel lecturer in EUPSA ( European Society of Pediatric Surgeons ) in 2022 . She joined SAGES Go Global Ilap and Glap programs as an educator and she is the actual Co-Chair of SAGES Global affairs committee. She was the recipient of the SAGES International Ambassador award in Montreal in 2023 and the Alberto Pena Medal at the Iberoamerican Congress of Pediatric Surgery 2024.

Dr Bailez lives in Buenos Aires with her husband Fernando and has 3 children : Manuel (40 ) who is a tourist administrator and a professional golf manager , Clara (36 ) who is a neurosurgeon and Victoria (25) who completed her career in movie production . They all share a passion for nature specially climbing mountains and skiing.
