Timothy Lautz, MD

Dr. Timothy Lautz is an Associate Professor of Surgery at Northwestern University and the Director of Surgical Oncology at Ann & Robert H Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. His surgical practice is focused on the care of children with cancer, with an emphasis on offering novel and innovative therapies.
Dr Lautz is an active member of the key national and international organizations working to cure pediatric cancer, including the Children's Oncology Group (COG) and the Pediatric Surgical Oncology Research Collaborative (PSORC). He has particular expertise in soft tissue sarcomas (STS) and serves on the STS committee of the COG. As vice-chair of PSORC he helps define research priorities and facilitate operational success. He is also the current Chair of the Cancer Committee for the American Pediatric Surgical Association where he helps guide national efforts at educating the pediatric surgical community on state-of-the-art care for children with cancer.
Finally, Dr Lautz is Co-PI of the PEDIA-SURG (Pediatric Devices, Innovations, and Advances in Surgery) lab at Lurie Children’s Hospital leading clinical trials focused on fluorescence-guided surgery, robotic surgery and other areas of innovation. These efforts include multiple successful collaborations with industry partners to trial novel agents in children with the hopes of accelerating efforts towards safe surgery and a cure for all.
