Nate Rubalcava, MD

Nate Rubalcava, MD, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained pediatric surgeon dedicated to delivering comprehensive surgical care to infants, children and adolescents. With a passion for patient- and family-centered care, he is known for ensuring every child receives expert treatment in a compassionate and supportive environment
Dr. Rubalcava completed his undergraduate degree at University of Texas San Antonio in San Antonio, TX and his medical degree at UT Health Long School of Medicine in San Antonio, TX. After completing his general surgery residency at Creighton University School of Medicine – Phoenix, AZ, he furthered his specialization with a pediatric surgery fellowship at Children’s Mercy Kansas City, MO and rounded out his training with a surgical innovation and fetal surgery fellowship at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI.
Dr. Rubalcava has special clinical interest in advanced minimally invasive techniques, neonatal surgery, thoracic surgery and complex gastrointestinal disorders. He also brings a strong background in quality improvement, surgical education and building multidisciplinary programs that meet the evolving needs of pediatric patients. Additionally, his interest in surgical innovation allows him to approach pediatric surgical problems in new ways that help to improve care of children and advance the field of pediatric surgery.
