Karen Diefenbach, MD, FACS, FAAP

Dr. Diefenbach attended medical school at University of Illinois College of Medicine and completed her general surgery residency at OSF St. Francis Hospital/University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria, in Peoria, IL. She completed a research fellowship at Yale School of Medicine and her pediatric surgery fellowship at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She is board certified in General and Pediatric Surgery and is a Professor of Surgery at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. She is the Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery and Associate Program Director of the Pediatric Surgery Fellowship at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH. Her clinical interests include the use of minimally invasive surgical to correct fetal and congenital anomalies. She also has a passion for surgical education and has developed many surgical models to train learners of all levels the techniques of pediatric and neonatal minimally invasive surgery. She has been faculty for the annual Pediatric Surgery Fellows MIS course for over 15 years and faculty on numerous national and international Pediatric MIS courses.
