Melissa McAllister is a Certified Nurse-Midwife and board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a strong commitment to rural healthcare. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Fort Hays State University and went on to complete a Master of Science in Nursing with a clinical focus in Nurse-Midwifery at the University of Kansas. She followed with a return to Fort Hays State University to complete a post-master’s certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Melissa currently practices at Smith County Memorial Hospital, a rural critical access facility in north central Kansas. In addition to her clinical work with both outpatients and inpatients—including providing lactation consultations—she serves as the hospital’s Education Coordinator. In this role, she develops and teaches a wide range of healthcare education courses for medical staff, nursing personnel, and the broader community.
