Dr. Bob Perez recently joined Summerville Medical Center as a Robotic/MIS General & Acute Care Surgeon.  Prior to his new position, Dr. Perez was the Director of the Robotic Surgery Program and the Chief of General Surgery for the Virtua Health System in Southern New Jersey.  One of the first fellowship trained surgeons in robotic surgery, he helped transform robotic surgery in the northeast in terms of improved patient outcomes, operational efficiency, and sustainable profitability.  Dr. Perez completed surgical residency in New Jersey prior to pursuing a fellowship in robotic general and bariatric surgery at Albany Medical Center in New York.  Since starting his practice in the fall of 2016, Dr. Perez has personally completed more than 2,500 robotic procedures with a case mix that includes hernias, gallbladders, complex abdominal wall reconstruction/component separation (TAR).  Dr. Perez is dedicated to making his experience reproducible and transferable to residents, fellows, and surgeons interested in advancing their careers through robotic surgery.
