Dr. Timothy Lee is the William Pokorny Endowed Professor and Chief of Pediatric Surgery at Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in 2001, completed his general surgery residency at Baylor, and subsequently completed a fellowship in pediatric surgery at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in 2010.

Dr. Lee’s clinical and research interests include fetal and neonatal surgery as well as surgery for complex colorectal congenital anomalies. He has participated in multiple clinical trials in fetal therapy and has contributed to research focused on fetal intervention, neonatal surgical outcomes, congenital diaphragmatic hernia, extracorporeal life support, and complex abdominal wall defects. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and has been an invited speaker at national and international scientific meetings.

As Chief of Pediatric Surgery, Dr. Lee leads one of the largest pediatric surgery programs in the United States. He is responsible for the division’s clinical, educational, research, and administrative missions across Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine. His leadership responsibilities include strategic planning, programmatic growth, advancement of clinical and basic science research, and the education of pediatric surgery fellows and medical trainees.
