Dr. Jose Montalvo-Fitzpatrick is a cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon with Houston Heart, based in Kingwood, Texas. Dr. Montalvo-Fitzpatrick completed his undergraduate studies at Georgetown University in 1997. He earned his medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in 2001. He then completed a general surgery residency at the University of Puerto Rico in 2007, which included a research fellowship at the Puerto Rico Trauma Center in 2004. He further specialized by completing cardiothoracic surgery residency at Loma Linda University in 2010. Dr. Montalvo-Fitzpatrick is a diplomate of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. His clinical interests encompass a wide range of procedures, including minimally invasive thoracic and cardiovascular surgery, cardiac assist devices, congenital heart surgery, esophageal surgery, lung surgery, heart transplantation, robotic-assisted surgery, surgery for atrial fibrillation (AFib), and percutaneous valve surgery. Dr. Montalvo-Fitzpatrick was attracted to the specialty because he enjoys the amazing impact that he can have on the patients' well-being and the complexity of the procedures and decision-making involved.
