Activity Description:
This is a virtual CME‐certified educational intervention designed to address the identified gaps in the care of patients with posterior circulation stroke. This virtual format allows for convenient access and thus reach a broad audience of medical professionals. Posterior stroke presentation is more likely to present with subtle or, not so obvious stroke symptomology. In some cases, a patient may dismiss the criticality of their symptoms and only call pre-hospital with reports of less concerning complaints to EMS, decreasing their chances of early recognition, treatment and outcome. Through these activities, clinicians will attain evidence‐based knowledge for the recognition, evaluation and management of patients presenting with symptomology for posterior circulation stroke.
Target Audience:
Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistance, Residents, Medical Students, Emergency Medical Services
Learning Objectives:
• Recognize symptoms for possible posterior circulation stroke
• Examine classic stroke syndromes of posterior circulation;
• Identify common causes for posterior circulation stroke;
• Practice applying this knowledge to the pre-hospital setting through case study presentations
