Activity Description: 
This presentation will provide a practical, clinically focused overview of hereditary risk for ovarian, fallopian tube, and endometrial cancers. Attendees will learn to identify patients at increased genetic risk, understand cancer risks associated with common hereditary cancer syndromes, and apply current recommendations for surveillance and risk-reducing surgery. The presentation will review appropriate timing of interventions, as well as surgical considerations and approaches for risk-reducing procedures, and the role of hormone replacement therapy following risk-reducing salpingo-oophorectomy. The goal is to equip providers with practical strategies to recognize high risk patients and confidently counsel and manage them throughout the risk reduction process.

Target Audience: 

This course is designed for hospitalists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, advance practice nurses, registered nurses, allied health professionals, physicians and residents.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

• Identify patients at increased risk for ovarian, fallopian tube, and endometrial cancers.
• Describe lifetime risk of ovarian, fallopian tube, and endometrial cancers for various high risk mutation carriers.
• Understand recommendations for screening, timing of surgery, and preoperative assessment.
• Clarify steps require required for risk, reducing surgeries and appropriate surgical approach.
• Discuss hormone replacement therapy for patients following risk-reducing salpingo-oophorectomy.
