Activity Description:

This multidisciplinary team, consisting of physicians representing each of the diagnostic and treatment services, coordinators, and representatives from administrative, clinical and supportive services; is responsible for cancer program leadership at Alaska Regional Hospital. This team comes together on a quarterly basis to review data and other pertinent documentation in order to measure compliance and adherence to the Commission on Cancer accreditation standards to ensure that cancer patients at Alaska Regional Hospital are treated with the highest quality of care.

Target Audience: 

Anesthesiology, Diagnostic Radiology, Dermatology, Surgical Oncology, Medical Oncology, Plastic Surgeons, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants

Learning Objectives:

  • Critically review and analyze data to identify opportunities to improve the quality of care and outcomes in the management of cancer patients at Alaska Regional Hospital.
  • Identify the spectrum of services available to meet the unique needs of the Alaskan cancer patient and address barriers or gaps that may impact the care and management of these patients.
  • Evaluate the evolving standards of care/evidence-based guidelines for care of patients with cancer in Alaska
