American Lung Association 3rd Annual - Community Connections: Lung Cancer: Patient Identification, Screening & Biomarker Testing

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in America, yet in South Carolina only 16.7% of eligible people at high risk for lung cancer receive screening. Screening can detect lung cancer at an earlier stage, when it is more likely to be curable. The American Lung Association will host a panel discussion focused on identifying patients at high risk for lung cancer and connecting them with appropriate screening and biomarker testing. When lung cancer is detected through screening, the risk of dying from the disease can be reduced by up to 20%. Community Connections brings together a diverse group of lung health practitioners to provide education on identifying patients who may benefit from lung cancer screening, the latest screening tools and technologies, and advances in biomarker testing. Attendees will also explore what the future of early detection may hold and how healthcare professionals can play a critical role in improving lung cancer outcomes.
