Eastern Plains Rural Emergency Care Conference

Holyoke, CO US
February 18, 2026

This Event is offered Live and Virtual. All Virtual Attendees will ONLY receive CME for morning session.

The Eastern Plains Rural Emergency Care Conference is a full-day activity designed to enhance the knowledge, clinical judgment, and hands-on skills of healthcare professionals managing critically ill and injured patients in rural and community hospital settings. This program combines evidence-based didactic education with interactive skills training, emphasizing early recognition, stabilization, and appropriate transfer of high-acuity patients.

  • Morning lectures will address ICU/PICU and neonatal emergencies, cardiogenic shock, acute stroke and neurologic emergencies, trauma resuscitation, and comprehensive burn management, with a focus on practical, case-based learning.
  • The afternoon skills session provides hands-on experience in trauma and neurologic/stroke scenarios, reinforcing airway management, hemorrhage control, neurologic assessment, and team-based decision-making. This activity is designed to close critical practice gaps by improving resuscitation skills, clinical confidence, and timely escalation of care in resource-limited settings.

Target Audience

Physicians, RNs, EMS, APP, Imaging staff and ancillary support

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify early clinical signs of deterioration in adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients with high-risk conditions, including cardiogenic shock, acute stroke, trauma, burn injuries, and NICU/PICU emergencies.
  • Apply evidence-based stabilization and initial management strategies, including airway management, hemodynamic support, neurologic assessment, and burn resuscitation, appropriate to resource-limited and rural care settings.
  • Demonstrate improved clinical decision-making related to escalation of care, interdisciplinary communication, and timely transfer of critically ill patients to higher levels of care.
