Intimate Partner Violence

Overview

The purpose of this educational activity is to increase domestic violence awareness among providers and healthcare staff, help identify and treat victims of domestic violence, and provide a list of resources to the community which can be helpful when caring for these patients. Each provider should walk away feeling comfortable in recognizing signs of ongoing intimate partner violence in their patient population and most importantly, what resources are available to them to help provide meaningful and informed care.

Target Audience

This course is designed for hospitalists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, advance practice nurses, registered nurses, allied health professionals, physicians and residents.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Define Intimate Partner Violence and its impact on individuals and communities.
  • Recognize and screen for Intimate Partner Violence with clinical presentations of IPV.
  • Recommend resources for patients experiencing Intimate Partner Violence.
