Introduction to Fetal Echo
Fetal echocardiography is an ultrasound test performed during pregnancy to evaluate the heart of the unborn baby. This activity will discuss how fetal echocardiography can help detect fetal heart abnormalities before birth, allowing for faster medical or surgical intervention once the baby is born. This improves the chance of survival after delivery for babies with serious heart defects. The purpose of this educational activity is to increase awareness of congenital heart defects and close common clinical gaps in proper scanning methods to detect prenatal heart disease and when to refer to a pediatric cardiologist.
