This course offers live, in-person attendance only.

The overall goal of this presentation is to provide training to healthcare providers on how to recognize victims of human trafficking, improve competency and comfort of working with this patient population, and provide resources that can be use both in clinical and hospital setting. We believe that this topic does not get enough recognition and that overall healthcare providers are faced with knowledge gaps pertaining to this patient population. We hope to improve the quality of care this patient population receives by teaching the medical community about what these patients' need and how we can help.

Target Audience

Physicians, Social Workers, Case Management, Registered Nurses, Medical Assistants, L&D, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, ER, Psychiatry, Residents, Medical Students.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify human trafficking situations and potential victims (including mandatory reporting requirements).
  • Explain how to connect to local anti-trafficking and victim support resources in Colorado.
  • Develop protocols to respond to trafficking when it presents in a healthcare setting.
