Lung Cancer Screening and Nodule Management

Despite clear national guidelines for lung cancer screening and pulmonary nodule evaluation, practice reviews identified significant variation in how clinicians across our system identify eligible patients, interpret low-dose CT findings, and manage follow-up care. Many primary care providers remain unfamiliar with updated USPSTF screening criteria for high-risk individuals, resulting in both under-screening and inappropriate referrals. Additionally, radiology and pulmonology teams report variability in the use of standardized risk-stratification tools such as Lung-RADS, contributing to inconsistent assessments of nodule malignancy risk. This activity addresses these practice gaps by providing a structured forum to update clinicians on current evidence-based screening guidelines, standardize nodule risk assessment, improve decision-making for diagnostic pathways, and strengthen coordination among teams involved in lung cancer screening and nodule management.
