Overview

This course will cover the capabilities of the programs at ORMC in regards to Behavioral Health and Alcohol/Chemical treatment. There will be discussions around the EMS role in caring for these patient and safe modalities for medicating and restraining as needed. Learners will review pre-hospital Ketamine use as well as EMS Case Reviews.

Target Audience

Pre-Hospital EMS Providers in the general catchment area of ORMC.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe the behavioral health and alcohol/chemical treatment programs available at ORMC, including their capabilities and patient care approaches.
  2. Identify the role of EMS providers in managing behavioral health patients, including appropriate methods for safe medication administration and physical restraint when necessary.
  3. Evaluate EMS case studies related to the management of behavioral health patients, identifying best practices and areas for improvement in pre-hospital care.
