
Management of Behavioral Health Patients for Prehospital Providers
Overview
This course will cover the capabilities of the programs at ORMC in regards to Behavioral Health and Alcohol/Chemical treatment. There will be discussions around the EMS role in caring for these patient and safe modalities for medicating and restraining as needed. Learners will review pre-hospital Ketamine use as well as EMS Case Reviews.
Target Audience
Pre-Hospital EMS Providers in the general catchment area of ORMC.
Learning Objectives
- Describe the behavioral health and alcohol/chemical treatment programs available at ORMC, including their capabilities and patient care approaches.
- Identify the role of EMS providers in managing behavioral health patients, including appropriate methods for safe medication administration and physical restraint when necessary.
- Evaluate EMS case studies related to the management of behavioral health patients, identifying best practices and areas for improvement in pre-hospital care.
