Outreach Pediatric Simulation

The event will be providing outreach education to the nurses and providers at Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance, NE. Primary topics covered will be pediatric sepsis, pediatric respiratory distress, and common pediatric emergencies using high fidelity manikin simulation. Learners will expect to practice scenarios on pediatric simulation patients, reviewing causes, assessment, interventions, and review recommended pediatric protocols for their facility.

Target Audience

The clinical staff of the Box Butte General Hospital, including nursing, respiratory and advanced practice providers.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
1. Recognize the common pediatric illnesses and injuries, and differentiate physiological differences in health assessments of the pediatric patient from the adult population.
2. Utilize evidence-based interventions for common pediatric illnesses, including respiratory distress, sepsis, seizures, and trauma
3. Demonstrate an understanding of the assessment, intervention, and care of the sick or injured pediatric patient, while applying family-centered care.
