The Quiet Ones: The Hidden World of Trafficking

This course is designed to equip healthcare providers with the knowledge and skills necessary to identify and respond to human trafficking victims. Participants will learn to utilize patient history and physical findings to recognize the physical, emotional, and behavioral signs of trafficking in patients and understand the complexities of screening and providing care for these individuals. The course will also cover legal and ethical considerations, as well as the importance of collaboration with community resources and law enforcement. By the end of the course, healthcare providers will be better prepared to identify trafficking victims, ensure their safety, and facilitate appropriate referrals for support services.

Target Audience

All Medical Staff at HCA Houston Northwest.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Identify potential victims or high risk individuals through red flags or other indicators.
  2. Define human trafficking both labor and sexual and verbalized vulnerability in various populations.
  3. Recognize the community and law enforcement resources that are available to facilitate appropriate referrals.
