Fetal echocardiography is an ultrasound test performed during pregnancy to evaluate the heart of the unborn baby. This activity will discuss how fetal echocardiography can help detect fetal heart abnormalities before birth, allowing for faster medical or surgical intervention once the baby is born. This improves the chance of survival after delivery for babies with serious heart defects.

Suicide and overdose or poisoning are the most common cause of pregnancy-associated mortality. Adverse mental health conditions in pregnant people can result in poor follow-up post-partum and worsening outcomes for conditions that arise during and after pregnancy; as well as increased risk for stillbirth, preterm delivery, fetal growth restriction, low birth weight, impaired bonding with mom, infant neuro-development, and increased long-term mental health outcomes for baby.
