AirLife Safety Series Landing Zone Safety
The series will provide an intensive, practical focus on evidence-based approaches to complex everyday problems that revolve around landing zone operations with an emphasis on standard of practice for aircraft safety. An interactive format will include a didactic presentation with case reviews. National and regional operations and safety standards will be discussed during the presentations.
Target Audience
Hospitalists, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Advance Practice Nurses, Registered Nurses, Allied Health Professionals, Physicians and Residents, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) providers.
Learning Objectives
- Identify the dangers involved in landing and working near a helicopter, and better able to protect themselves and others in that setting.
- Describe how to survey the LZ or helipad for safety prior to the aircraft arrival, and what to do in the event of a crash.
- Recognize potential hazards for medical transport helicopters and mitigate or reduce those risk factors.
