Capnography

In this course, we will be reviewing basic capnography interpretation and using that to build into the advanced skills. Dr. Loner will review best practices in capnography, techniques that has worked over the years for her as an emergency physician, and troubleshooting steps if your capnography is not working. Lastly, we will go over case reviews to help solidify the newly learned information.  

Target Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of EMS providers.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify how changes to the capnography wave correlate with patient pathophysiology and to apply it to help direct patient care; 
  • Utilize capnography as an additional tool to analyze and optimize ETT placement and patient resuscitation; 
  • Interpret capnography as a real time tool to assess patient response to interventions and to monitor patient status.
