Activity Description:
Appropriate management of patients in rural settings is essential to improving health outcomes and supporting the overall well-being of these communities. Providers must be able to identify patients at risk of requiring higher levels of care and respond efficiently. Increasing awareness of evidence-based management strategies is critical to ensuring timely and appropriate interventions. This activity is designed to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to address the unique challenges of caring for patients in rural environments.
Target Audience:
This course is designed for hospitalists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, advance practice nurses, registered nurses, allied health professionals, physicians and residents.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Apply clinical guidelines to patients under the care of rural providers with an understanding of the rationale behind the guidelines and the expected outcomes of specific medical conditions, diagnoses, diseases.
- Identify the indications and contraindications for new modalities in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of patients in rural clinics and emergency departments.
- Formulate prioritized differential diagnoses for the clinical presentations of specific medical conditions, diagnoses, and diseases.
